Does a Colonic Hurt? No, it doesn’t hurt. It is actually very comfortable and some people think it feels good because the colonic is removing waste from the body. This comfort is due to the fact that it’s not like an enema where you have to hold a lot water; we just put a little water in at a time to stimulate the bowel to empty. Your bowel is actually in charge of the process because it is your muscles that expel the water and waste. This is like sending your bowel to a gym because the colonic creates resistance exercise when the water enters and your body pushes it out. The person administering the colonic controls the water temperature. The thermometer in the water bottle signals the comfort level, so you never feel too hot or cold.
